Their first tape came out in 1995 for Listen Loudest label. "Da,
da, da" (Yes, Yes, Yes) opens a side. It's high energy song strongly influenced
by MC5. Honky tonk piano, walls of fuzz guitar, punk energy, great vocal
and you must jump, turn the volume of your stereo as loud as you can and
dance. And Maroderi go on - "Ona zna da postojim" (She Knows I Exist) drives
you mad. Rockin' acid solo guitars and driving high energy rhythm guitar
in next song - "Jaci od sunca" (Stronger Than
Sun) and you can't stop dancing. And then a side is finished - fuck!
But b side starts great too "Obicna ptica" (Ordinary Bird) is full of great
wah wah guitar - tempo doesn't change so i'm high again, high of Maroderi
energy - ha ha ha. Only the last and maybe the best song on this tape -
it's so difficult to say which song is the best - but I always have my
favorite - anyway only this song called "Ova pjesma zna" (This Song Knows)
starts slow. And you can feel that this great guitar will come again and
here it is - wow - I'm hypnotized and I don't care - I like this tape!
It's pity that the tape contains only 6 songs and less than 20 minutes
of music. But who cares.
"Sunca"
(More Sun) is next album of Maroderi - it's cd with 10 songs but 4 of them
we already know from 1st tape. Ok, they recorded them again. Production
is much better, but still they should have put new songs. "Ova pjesma zna"
sounds more bluesy. "Ubio sam se" (I Killed Myself) is standard ex-yu garage
punk song, just like "Zelim te jako" (I Want You Badly). Late 60s/early
70s Stones sound mixed with MC5 high energy rock - you love it or you don't.
I only think that production could be more dirty, more trashy, more punk.
But ok, it's my taste - so next new song is "Slobodno mi reci" (Just Say
It To Me). It's a bit boogie with nice bluesy harmonica. "Da li znas tko
sam ja" (Do You Know Who I Am?) is again high energy with great acid wah
guitar and punky chorus. "Kada nemam bol" (When I Don't Feel Pain) has
groovy rhythm, wah wah guitar sounds bit p-funk and very 70s. "Ja
vidim nju" (I See Her) closes this album. It's also bit groovy like "Kada
nemam bol" but less funky. Anyway the last 2 songs are not so good as the
rest of cd. I think the whole cd is ok, but Maroderi didn't reach the quality
of first tape. It's pity - maybe it's question of production, but I think
they could have done it better. They should have played bit faster and
trashy, more high energy punk and less bluesy or hard rock. Also
new songs, excluding "Da li znas tko sam ja" were not so great like the
6 songs from their 1st tape.
