In late 70s and early 80s punk had really big
influence on yu rock. Bands like Pankrti, Prljavo Kazaliste, Paraf, Elektricni
Orgazam and others brought completely new sound. It was real revolution
and all yugoslav youth culture was changed over night. Anyway, in 1983
punk revolution was over. Many bands disappeared before they did something
serious, some of them, like Prljavo Kazaliste became very poppy and changed
their punk attitude for fist full of fucking money. Some other bands like
Paraf, after big personal changes, changed their style too, following new
underground movements. Maybe only Pankrti were faithful to "good old" punk
rock. Hard core punk was little bit extreme for many teenagers who were
hungry for simple and primitive r'n'r. So, in 1983 first bands appear who
search for traditional rock forms. Maybe the best example is Elektricni
Orgazam - band from first punk generation. The same year they recorded
all-cover lp "Les Chansones Populaires". Maybe accidentally, but all covers
were famous 60s songs. At the same time Partibrejkers
(formed on ruins of Radnicka Kontrola, not
very known punk band) play their strange mix of punk and rhythm & blues
(like from early Stones records). In that time no one new that only few
years later garage punk will be the most popular underground style.
Partibrejkers, Majke and many other bands found
specific garage punk sound which is difficult to compare with any foreign
band. It's punky r&b which sometimes sounds pretty metallic (not heavy
metal!!) like strange mix of Pistols, late 60s/early 70s Stones sound with
some MC5 and Stooges
influences. Of course there are some bands
- The Spoons are the most known - who play pure 60s punk.
It's really difficult to describe music with
words, so you have to hear it. If you're interested - I'm always open for
trade. So don't be shy, just ask me. Garage punk, 60s punk, 77 style punk,
surf, psychobilly are some of the styles I like the most. I'll tape you
anything you want. Maybe I can find you some records/cd's/tapes. You can
also tape or send me some good & unknown r'n'r bands. I really like
to hear good r'n'r from all over the world.
I hope you'll enjoy my web site. If you have
some suggestions or questions, or simply if you just want to speak about
music - send me e-amil.
