The band Elipse (The Ellipses) started in 1963. In the beginning they played
covers of The Shadows. They became very popular in the mid 60's. They played
with The Searchers and The Hollies when they were touring ex Yugoslavia. 1965 they release their first 7" with
Perica Stojancic. This 7" is one of my faves. On side with Perica there is jugobeat r'n'r killer "Sentimental Baby"
and both instrumentals by Elipse on the other side are great. In
1966 they won the Gitarijada festival. The concert drew 2000 spectators. Same year their 2nd 7" came out.
They also recorded one TV film in the zoo. They won the silver medal 1967 at
the international festival in Bulgaria. At that time they played rhythm'n'blues. After Edi Dekeng (student from
Kongo - ex Crni Panteri (The Black
Panthers)) joined the band they started playing soul. They release their 3rd 7" with Edi in 1967. Elipse also
appeared
in two movies "Nemiri" (Restless) and "Budjenje pacova" (Awakening Of The Rats). They split in 1968. Lot of
their recordings are released on CD "Za Prijatelje" (For Friends). Recordings were literary saved from being
destroyed as trash of Radio And TV Belgrade.
